A good friend came down to Tech, and so I decided to drop by and say hello. Luckily for me, CCF was also holding its annual 3-on-3 tournament. Talk about getting two birds with one stone. During the trip, I had a good lunch with the friend, awesome LG and ministry meeting, and my first taste of low-light sports photography.
I spent my past weekend in Blacksburg, meeting with some folks and taking some shots around the campus. Tech offers beautiful sceneries, so I thought it'd be a good opportunity to give my ef-s 10-22 a much needed workout. The lens produces some crazy distortions at its widest, and I feel that it's gonna take me some time to fully understand how to properly use it. It's definitely a challenge.
Unfortunately, I forgot that the trees around the campus were still without leaves (this meant that most shots would've looked dull and lifeless, although my lack of creativity may have attributed to this as well). As I result, I didn't find too many photographic opportunities. I may need to revisit come summer or, better yet, fall.
While at the retreat, I managed to take a few snapshots of some of my friends. Nothing too fancy. I forgot to use the fill-in flash when shooting outdoors, though. D'oh.
I'm still trying to understand my new camera. Definitely a bit more complex to use than my old Pentax ME.
All in all, I was able to give a well needed scratch to my photo itch, so I'm quite happy.
